Takezo Shima (志摩矛造（しまたけぞう） Shima Takezō) was the eldest son of the Shima family who died during the Blue Night.[1]
Appearance[]
Takezo looked almost identical to his younger sibling, Renzo before the latter dyed his hair pink.
Personality[]
Takezo was considered the pride of the Shima family. It even became habit for his younger brother Juzo Shima to ask "What would Take-nii do?" in a given situation.[2]
He is shown to be quite dutiful, but also compassionate, showing concern for others ahead of his orders and even whilst dying making the effort to save another instead of himself.[3]
History[]
Takezo Shima was the eldest sibling of the Shima family until the Blue Night, which resulted in his death as he protected the children of the Myōō Dharani sect.[4]
Synopsis[]
Kyoto Impure King arc[]
Whilst running from the Impure King, Renzo Shima reflects on Juzo telling him how his life was saved by Takezo.[5]
Blue Night arc[]
It is shown that during the Blue Night, Takezo was given command of the team to move civilians from the mountain to safety. Despite the rush of his colleagues, Satan's Blue Flames caught up with them, killing the other exorcists. In defeating one of the possessed, Takezo was mortally wounded and threw his brother Renzo to safety as he fell to his death.[6]
Powers & Abilities[]
Takezo inherited the power to summon and control the high class Demon, Yamantaka. This ability was passed on to his younger brother, Renzo upon his death.[7] He seemed to be much more adept at controlling Yamantaka's powers than his brother, easily calling forth its Black Flames in a more prominent fashion than later displayed by Renzo.[8]
Trivia[]
- Takezo's surname Shima means "will, purpose" (志) (shi) and "chafe, rub, polish, grind, scrape, friction" (摩) (ma).
