The Sorrow of the Moe Character (?) is the 10th chapter of Kazue Katō's Salaryman Exorcist: The Sorrows of Yukio Okumura.
Summary[]
Katou Minoru wanders the street while trying to work on his manga career. Bumping into Saburota Todo in his Demon form, he is inspired. Years later, Yukio is shopping for books when he comes across an advertisement for Ojiyagi catches him off guard. Trying to ignore it, the series ends up becoming a big hit.
Meeting with Shiemi, he is dismayed to find her with a Ojiyagi keychain. When she talks about the character being faint hearted, Yukio objects, claiming this is just a cover for his true nature. Shiemi comments on how well he know the character, causing Yukio to rethink things, admitting to himself that it is merely a character and not Todo himself.
Meanwhile, Katou Minoru is running out of inspiration, lamenting that he missed the chance to talk to Todo before using him for inspiration. Coming across Todo once again after having absorbed Karura, he takes the time to speak with him and creates a new character for the Ojiyagi cast. When Yukio comes across the revitalised Todo in and advertisement, he loses his cool.
Shiemi meets up with him again, this time having a new plush toy with the younger Todo on it. When the toy starts saying lines from Todo, Yukio panics, thinking Todo is nearby, much to Shiemi's confusion.
