Synopsis[]
Komatarou is first encountered by Yukio Okumura outside the aged Archive building. Whilst originally there to give him a Dismissal Notification, upon observing Komatarou's dedication to his work, Yukio cannot bring himself to give him the letter. Turning to leave, Komatarou saves Yukio from treading on landmines he had set up in the area. With the letter being caught in the blast, it is burned open, allowing Komatarou to read the contents and discover the truth of Yukio's visit. Accepting this situation, he retires without argument.
He later sends Yukio a letter with photos detailing his exciting hobbies following his retirement, including surfing, barbeques, hanging around with other Komainu and driving in a sports car with beautiful women.
