Creation and possession

Ambrosius was one of the clones created by Section 13, hailing from the Samael group. Unlike the rest of the clones in his group, Ambrosius was born "normally", implying he has a human mother.

After Amaimon left his previous vessel, he reincarnated in Ambrosius' body, prompting Lucifer to push for the project's continuation.

Synopsis

Beyond the Snow arc

Files containing information about Ambrosius are found in Section 13 by Lewin Light and Ryuji Suguro. It is revealed to them by Mephisto Pheles, that unlike the later cloning experiments, Ambrosius was born normally.

Blue Night arc

Observing the past, Rin sees the moment when Amaimon took control of Ambrosius' body, allowing Lucifer to argue for Section 13's continued operation.

Etymology

• Ambrosius is a given name and surname derived from the Ancient Greek word "ambrosios", meaning "divine, immortal".
• Faust is a German surname meaning "auspicious", "lucky", or "fortunate".
  • A fictionalized version of German alchemist Johann Faust is the protagonist of the legend Faust. Highly successful yet dissatisfied with his life, Faust makes a deal with the Devil at a crossroads, exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures. The Faust legend has been the basis for many literary, artistic, cinematic, and musical works that have reinterpreted it through the ages.

Trivia

• Ambrosius' first name was given to him in his file from Section 13. His family name was seemingly added later when Amaimon used it as his guise entering True Cross Academy.
