Tatsuko Kirigakure (霧隠辰子（きりがくれたつこ） Kirigakure Tatsuko) was a former Iga Ninja and ancestor of Shura Kirigakure.

Appearance

Tatsuko looked almost identical to Shura, except that Tatsuko's hair appears to be a darker colour. Aside from that, she is shown wearing a short robe with cloth wraps around her forearms and shins and a long dark cloak.

Personality

Tatsuko seemed to be a very ambitious individual, who was willing to abandon her clan in order to start her own group. Furthermore she willingly signed away her own life and that of all her descendants in exchange for a demon's power. She appears quite fearless in the face of danger, attacking a powerful spirit with next to no hesitation.

Synopsis

After finding Shura injured at the shrine in Lake Towada, Rin and Yukio return to the inn. After coming around, she regails them with the story of her ancestor, Tatsuko, who originally made the contract with Hachitaro Okami.

Fleeing from her former comrades in the Iga ninja, Tatsuko makes her way north to Aomori, where she encounters Hachitaro. Battling him, he quickly cuts her down, but her determination catches his attention. Making an arrangement with her, he gifts her with a demon sword in exchange for staying with him forever, but since she is mortal, this agreement passes a curse along her bloodline, dooming each successive generation with her appearance and a livespan of only thirty years.

Powers & Abilities

Tatsuko was a trained ninja, skilled in combat. After making a contract with Hachitaro Okami, she gained supernatural powers.

Regeneration: Tatsuko had a degree of improved regeneration. Whilst not on the level of of Rin Okumura's healing, it still allows for healing from mortal injuries in a matter of hours without a scar when she is near Hachitaro.

Item Storage: Tatsuko had the ability to store items within the tattoo on her torso.
